hi, all!

I'm Liz!

The heart behind West on Twenty! Pictured with me is my wonderful husband, Dave and our two sidekicks, Sophie & Jack. I want to say a big thank you to each one of you for taking a moment to delve into the story behind West on Twenty. I hope my story sparks some inspiration, empowering you to craft the home of your dreams alongside me.

A little background on how I got to this point–

In 2021, my husband (then fiance) and I bought our first house in Weston, MA. Based on the inspection it was a decent property and needed a few cosmetic updates. Aside from my experience renovating and selling my condo in South Boston, we were naive to purchasing/renovating a large home. We were optimistic, thinking we snagged a fantastic deal in an amazing town!

That seemingly great deal in an amazing town quickly transformed into an ongoing saga of home-related disasters. Nicknamed 'the money pit,' our new home proved to be less resilient than anticipated, resembling more of a movie set than a sturdy home. As fate would have it, just as we settled in, a cascade of challenges unfolded. In the midst of my dad's prolonged illness, our house decided to present an additional hurdle. One night, in the middle of the night we woke up to the fire alarms and waterfalls pouring through all the light fixtures in the ceilings. The pipes had burst and destroyed the basement, 1st & 2nd floor.

Long story short, the house was condemned and we now live with my parents with our 4 dogs (not ideal as newlyweds). Between my dad getting sick and our home, I had to step back from my job to be the project manager for this full home build. I've been documenting our journey of disasters with videos, pictures and journaling, now I am doing the same for the whole reno process! My mission through this blog and social media is to help guide new homeowners & show that it is a struggle, but you aren't alone! Our experience has been one for the books and our friends and family love hearing about the good, the bad and the ugly. Lifestyle blogs are in excess - but I'm looking at this as an outlet for myself to turn this journey into a passion project & small business. Stepping back from my job to help my parents and rebuild the house has been incredibly challenging, but it's also become a source of resilience and growth!

Our story doesn't end here! This is just the beginning and we can't wait to take you along for the journey. For behind-the-scenes footage, sneak peeks, product recommendations, design tips and a closer look at our day-to-day progress, visit the blog and our socials. Your support means the world to us, and we'd love to have you join our community as we navigate through the highs and lows of this home transformation. Find inspiration, share in our experiences, and let's build something amazing together!
